The canvases of Frank Galuszka utilize the versatility of acrylic paint to achieve effects that can be compared with artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Gerald Scarfe. His art takes from the realm of graphic design, where he has a very successful career in Silk screening and interior design and layout, and he incorporates it with elements of portraiture and cartooning. His style shows a preoccupation with angularity and patterns, which combine to give the impression of a reality that extracts aspects from our own and heightens them. The usage of white spaces against solid colors or strong patterns takes the viewer to worlds of fantastic creatures and beautiful women that is often comical and often sexy. Galuszka succeeds in entertaining his observer and his painting require several reevaluations before all their subtle aspects become apparent. His is beginning to develop a following through his recent shows in New York, and his reputation demonstrates him to be an artist who traverses the boundary between high and pop art.
